I recently took an airboat tour in Fort Lauderdale — and of boy, do I highly recommend taking one! I saw multiple alligators, some crazy looking birds, and a ton of other wildlife. The Florida Everglades offered way more beauty than you would expect from a swampland.
The tour guide was also a lot of fun. I went with a couple girlfriends for a girls-only trip. We brought some white claws while the guide shared surprisingly interesting facts about the Everglades.
What To Take With You
I’m terrible at planning. So I wanted to make sure to go over a few things I wish I would of had on my tour:
- SUNSCREEN! And then more sunscreen. That Southern Florida sun is brutal.
- Flip-flops or sandals. Unfortunately, a few of us had the misconception that we would be hiking? Our sneakers were soaked by the end of the tour.
- Bug repellant. This should have been an obvious one for us, but the bugs out there are horrid. It’s to be expected with such a swampy area.
- Cooler with snacks and beverages. If you’re over the age of 21, you’re legally allowed to drink on the tour. I wish we would have brought some snacks though for some extra energy!
- Camera. Don’t forget your camera! My friend was able to take beautiful pictures of the sun setting over the Everglades.
- Hat and sunglasses. Seriously, that sun is no joke. Add some extra protection!
